Throne Room
The Throne Room is the Emperor's formal audience chamber within the royal palace. Approximately forty meters across, it is lined with paintings, statues, and murals of past rulers — placed there to educate new rulers on historical mistakes. An invisible audio system ensures that every word spoken anywhere in the room is audible throughout.
Multiple kneeling attendants are stationed here when the Emperor holds court; the throne sits at the far end.
History
The room served as the primary setting for high-stakes imperial audiences throughout the IWUKE story. Key events:
- Aaron Carnick invoked his emergency powers as First Commander to gain entry for Lucas Taldo's eyewitness account of Evitr's departure; Qyvin Warpine ejected all three men after calling them liars. (Chapter 20)
- Paulo Duwirth-Warpine was brought before Qyvin here, accused of abetting Zet. When the Royal Knights refused to execute Paulo without Qyvin invoking the King's name, Qyvin personally shot Paulo in the heart. (Chapter 37)
- During a confrontation with Kaiser, Qyvin demonstrated Sylvian enhancement, freezing Kaiser's body. (Chapter 38)
- Qyvin Warpine was arrested here, four hours after Zet's declaration, and led away in chains by ordinary citizens. Ribo Mire witnessed the proceedings. (Chapter 47)
Conversion to The New Chamber
Following Zet's declaration and Qyvin's arrest, Zet and associates converted the Throne Room within twenty-four hours into a large conference room for The Board:
- Throne and extravagant decorations removed
- Historical murals retained ("They were accurate, from what I could tell")
- Conference seating added
The converted space is now called The New Chamber and will host The Board's deliberations on The New Law.
