Story Arc
During Zet's infiltration of the Network Agency in Chapter 23, Melchor spotted Pietro and raised the alarm. The security recordings captured both Pietro and Melchor's reaction, and the agency's facial recognition system identified Melchor in the footage.
To protect the infiltration, Zet manipulated the recordings: Pietro was replaced with what appeared to be an ordinary insect, and fabricated footage was inserted showing Melchor shooting at it — something he had not actually done. His genuine alarm response was left intact, making him appear to have panicked over nothing. The goal was to portray him as unreliable and render his account of the intrusion easily dismissable.
Zet acknowledged the manipulation with some reluctance, hoping Melchor would not lose his job over it. Zet considered the harm to him an unfortunate collateral outcome, and committed internally to making things right if it came to that. His ultimate fate is not established.
