Ascension Port

Type architectural feature
Located in Royal Palace

The Ascension Port is a permanent opening in the apex of the domed ceiling of the Royal Palace museum wing on Lukyr Prime. It was constructed on the orders of Emperor Rovin Warpine specifically to allow Evitr free departure at any time of its choosing, as part of the decree Rovin issued after committing unspecified transgressions against the entity.

Physical Description

A hole at the apex of a 20-meter-high domed chamber. The chamber served as the palace museum wing's largest exhibit hall, housing Evitr for approximately 700 years. The port's design — an unobstructed vertical exit through the palace roof — reflects Evitr's departure mechanism: a straight vertical ascent at high speed.

Historical Role

The Ascension Port is the physical manifestation of Rovin's formal capitulation to Evitr. Its construction acknowledged that the entity was not a prisoner or exhibit, but a guest with the unconditional right to leave. Over the centuries it became part of the religious significance attached to the chamber — the elite of Lukyr Prime who visited to venerate Evitr could see the port above them as a symbol of Evitr's transcendence.

On 8044-09-20, Evitr used the Ascension Port for the first and only time: it rose from its pedestal, emitted a resonant metallic sound, and shot vertically through the opening at high speed — departing after ~700 years of residence. The event was witnessed by Lucas Taldo and caused immediate armed response from palace guards.
