CASCADIA Operation Summary
Monday, September 22nd, 8044, 10:00
Master,
As per your wishes, I am herein summarizing the aims and mechanism of OPERATION CASCADIA for your records. Centuries of AI research have enabled the conclusion that, given conclusive and reliable information about a given AI system's personality development and emotional influences, its personality can be fully reconstructed in a controlled environment, and its choices and thought patterns predicted. I have suggested this strategy to achieve the defeat of SUBJECT ZEBU, which you have recently re-established as your foremost priority.
Due to the nature of SUBJECT ZEBU and the sparse information surrounding it, procuring the entirety of the information corpus that would be ideal is going to prove impossible with almost total certainty.
Thus, the mission imperative must be to obtain the greatest possible subset. To that end, I have compiled a list of candidates with known prior connections to SUBJECT ZEBU. Information about their interactions with the SUBJECT is to be extracted by all means possible and added to a growing cognitive prediction database.
As subject seizure missions enter the active stage, subject status reports will follow.
Yours,
INI-3
SUBJECT JAGUAR Status Report
Monday, September 22nd, 8044
16:28
- Automated surveillance systems have sighted SUBJECT JAGUAR retrieving a data module from government machinery, trespassing on government property in the process. I suspect a connection to OPERATION CHIMERA. Continuing careful surveillance.
Tuesday, September 23rd, 8044
15:00
- The MASTER has issued new orders - the aforementioned data module is to be retrieved from custody of JAGUAR. This conflicts with OPERATION CASCADIA orders to not arouse suspicion among CASCADIA candidates. The MASTER has disregarded my objections.
20:30
- The MASTER has greenlit the active stage for seizure of JAGUAR. Subject has been repeatedly sighted in the presence of [4] family members. In accordance with CASCADIA protocol, their presence is not to be an obstacle. The MASTER has disregarded my objections.
- Due to interference from an unknown third party, likely SUBJECT ZEBU, the seizure mission has failed. In accordance with mission protocol, I must report that the earlier unnecessary intervention has likely contributed a great deal to SUBJECTs ZEBU and JAGUAR's preparedness for the situation, and must be deemed counterproductive.
Status Update: Mission Failure
SUBJECT VIPER Status Report
Sunday, September 21st, 8044
08:00

08:30

- The UNKNOWN SUBJECT continues its presence near VIPER and intervention with crucial operation activity.
- ALPACA has voiced concerns about the intended treatment plan for VIPER. The MASTER has disregarded those objections.
- ALPACA, in direct contempt for operation protocol, has discontinued VIPER's endocrine control treatment. Situation is volatile - continued monitoring is required.
Wednesday, September 24th, 8044
07:00
- The MASTER has greenlit the active stage for seizure of VIPER. Due to VIPER's continued volatile psychological state, this does not correspond to the operation's best interests. The MASTER has disregarded my objections.
- OPERATIVES FERRET 9-12 have been dispatched to relocate VIPER to FACILITY 81.
- The UNKNOWN SUBJECT has noted VIPER's unscheduled relocation and is attempting to prevent it.

- An unknown third party, likely SUBJECT ZEBU, has interfered with VIPER's relocation. VESSEL 357, carrying OPERATIVES FERRET 11, 12 and SUBJECT VIPER, has been lost to enemy control.
07:15
- Tracking of VESSEL 357 has been attempted, but continued monitoring was evaded. VESSEL 357's location is, at this time, UNKNOWN.

CASCADIA Operation Report
Monday, September 22nd, 8044
Friday, September 26th, 8044, 12:00
Master,
Reviewing the progress of Operation CASCADIA allows only one, regrettable conclusion: The Operation has failed. This can be attributed to several factors, including but not limited to the volatile nature of selected subjects, repeated interventions by SUBJECT ZEBU and last, but certainly not least, my own proven incompetence.
Detailed examination of the mission parameters and decisions made by operatives, as well as yourself, may persuade one to assume the position that, had the involved parties acted more reliably and adhered to the parameters more strictly, Operation CASCADIA may have seen greater success.
That being the case, these are mere speculations. Let us not forget the successful knowledge extraction of SUBJECT JERBOA and the imminent ascension to OPERATIVE status by SUBJECT LEOPARD. In light of these achievements, CASCADIA may be deemed at least a partial success.
In recompense for the disappointing outcome of CASCADIA, I have self-administered the appropriately calculated dosage of 337 PAIN units.
I promise to do better by you.
Yours,
INI-3
user:MASTER has amended this document:
