Alumyr
Alumyr is one of the known kyrant types — exotic super-heavy elements with unusual properties found in the Lukyr system. It was initially believed to destroy energy, but research revealed that it instead redirects absorbed energy to a quantum-entangled Lumyr crystal at arbitrary distance via an "enigmatic" process Zet finds "interesting to say the least."
Properties
- Energy redirection — absorbs energy and transmits it to a paired Lumyr crystal somewhere else; does not destroy energy
- Quantum entanglement with Lumyr — each Alumyr crystal has a corresponding Lumyr crystal; energy flows one-way from Alumyr to Lumyr
Uses
Alumyr is used as shielding against energy weapons: rather than absorbing and dispersing the energy, it redirects it away entirely — to a Lumyr crystal somewhere else, which then receives the full charge. This makes Alumyr-shielded objects highly resistant to energy weapon fire while potentially creating hazards at the destination crystal's location.
