Lorin Warpine, known as 'the Scorcher', was the fourth King of Lukyr, reigning 7710–7739. He was the great-grandson of Toven Warpine. His most consequential act was outlawing Eternium, the life-extension drug that had kept his ancestor Toven alive for nearly two centuries. The outlawing caused the withdrawal deaths of both Toven Warpine (July 2, 7717) and Pyvon Warpine (February 18, 7718).

Background

Born September 29, 7692, likely the son of Zovian Warpine. He ascended to the throne in 7710 at age 18 following his father's accidental death in office. During his reign he outlawed Eternium, ending the practice of life extension among the royal family and the elite more broadly. He died April 7, 7739, at age 46.

The reason for outlawing Eternium — whether moral, political, or ideological — is not recorded in the Chronicle, though the epithet 'the Scorcher' may relate to this policy or other acts of his reign.

Story Arc

In 7728, during his reign, Lorin launched the Empire's frontier colonization effort, founding genuine Lukyrian colony worlds beyond the Lukyr system. Much later, Imperial propaganda (the The Complete History of the Frontier Worlds - 8012 Edition) would falsely attribute the alien world Gamma Eona Primus — homeworld of the Aeonites and focus of the Frontier Recovery Mission — to this same program, fabricating a colonial history to hide the aliens' existence. That world was never actually a Lukyrian colony (see CT Chapter 3).
