Personality
Lavis appears uncomfortable during tense social interactions, particularly when caught between his friend Fin Erick-Warpine and the patriarch. He seems subordinate to Imven VIII, not daring to show disagreement when the patriarch gives him a stern look and commands him to show Fin around. He appears ashamed of his elder's behavior toward guests.
Background
Lavis and Fin were friends during their education years but haven't seen each other since Lavis finished his education. He lives in one of 117 occupied residential units within the sprawling Feder estate, where the massive extended family coexists with minimal interaction beyond their individual units.
Relationships
- Fin Erick-Warpine — old friend from education years; hasn't seen him in years until Fin visits the estate
- Imven Feder-Warpine VIII — the family patriarch; treats Lavis dismissively and maintains strict authority over him
Story Arc
TWPW Chapter 5 — Fin's Visit
Fin Erick-Warpine arrives at the Feder estate to visit Lavis, ostensibly for a friendly catch-up though Fin has concealed ulterior motives. When Fin rings through the gate terminal, Lavis responds quickly and directs him to the lounge on the 58th floor.
Unexpectedly, Imven VIII is present in the lounge when Fin arrives. The patriarch treats Lavis with open condescension, sarcastically asking if Admiral Lavis Feder-Warpine the First has risen from the dead since he doesn't see him anywhere — forcing Lavis into the diminished position of being "Lavis the Second." When Fin insists on spending time with Lavis rather than accepting Imven's offer to tour the presentation rooms, the patriarch gives Lavis a stern look and commands him to "show him around" before leaving.
Lavis greets Fin with a quiet "Hey Fin" during the tense exchange, appearing uncomfortable and ashamed by his elder's behavior.
