The Hangar
A massive underground military facility operated by the Royal Brigade, located at Shade Desert Seven. The structure was first investigated by Pietro acting on intelligence from the Mysterious Contact.
Physical Characteristics
The Hangar is an enormous underground volume:
- Dimensions: Dozens of kilometers across, at least one kilometer in height
- Capacity: Currently storing approximately 48 Lightstinger capital ships
- Location: Shade Desert Seven, far east of the main cities
- Access: 8km-wide circular opening with massive blast doors and falsified satellite imagery to conceal it
Function
The facility serves multiple strategic purposes for the Royal Brigade:
-
Ship Storage: Houses Lightstinger capital ships, including those that did not depart with Covian Warpine and damaged vessels requiring repair (such as the one Zeni disabled with electromagnetic discharge)
-
Strategic Headquarters: Acts as a command center for leading personnel; Admirals commanding each ship are partially quartered here
-
Maintenance and Deployment: Equipped to bring ships back into operational condition after extended idle periods; two Lightstingers were observed preparing for launch in Chapter 30
Discovery
Zet learned of the Hangar's existence through contact from the Mysterious Contact, who provided server location data leading to the facility. Pietro was dispatched to investigate and successfully infiltrated when the blast doors opened for ship operations.
When Pietro first entered, the facility hatch remained open long enough to transmit data, but signal strength decreased as he descended. The hatch's opening and closing cycle created challenges for maintaining communication with Zet's satellite network.
Strategic Significance
The Hangar's existence explains how the Royal Brigade ship disabled by Zeni appeared to vanish—it hadn't left the planet but was hidden in this facility. The location remained secret even from most personnel, as those inside don't know the facility's coordinates.
The preparation of Lightstingers for launch in Chapter 30 suggests escalating military operations, though their specific mission objectives remained unclear at the time of discovery.
