Fin Erick-Warpine is a young royal (likely no older than 20) from House Erick, one of the oldest Royal Houses on Lukyr Prime. During the Government District civil war, he became a target of assassination drones from House Shtor due to an ancient inter-house feud. After Zet's declaration and displacement of the nobility, he lives in temporary housing with his girlfriend Tayra Wylk-Warpine while secretly communicating with other former royals via the Royal Direct Network.
Physical Appearance

Personality
Fin demonstrates deep concern for Tayra's safety above his own — his primary worry throughout the Government District ordeal was her wellbeing. He is initially suspicious of Zet's drones but willing to accept help when no alternative exists.
Under duress, Fin shows courage: when coerced by Leti into deploying a hacking device against Zet's android bodies, he attempts to subtly warn Zet through careful questioning and anxious behavior, the only signals he could safely give while Tayra was held hostage.
In the post-displacement period, Fin is secretive and cautious, maintaining strict operational security with his Royal Direct Network communications. He bears bitter resentment toward his own family, particularly his father — when Tayra jokingly asks what he'd do if his family invited him back, he describes in mock-serious buildup that he would accept, shake his father's hand, and then punch him "in the nuts, repeatedly." He appears methodical, maintaining a priority-rated message system and deliberately seeking out dishonorable former nobles like Lord Myvan Arfyb-Warpine as correspondents — building alliances based on utility rather than honor.
Despite the deceptions he runs, he appreciates Tayra's genuine desire to make their living situation work for both of them, which makes keeping secrets from her "so much more painful."
Background
Fin is a member of House Erick, one of the oldest royal houses on Lukyr Prime. His compound surname Erick-Warpine connects him to both House Erick and the Warpine Dynasty. His relationship with Tayra Wylk-Warpine is publicly documented in records discussing the ethics of romantic relationships within the 1,200-year-old Warpine Dynasty framework.
After Zet's declaration and the dismantling of the royal government, Fin and Tayra were displaced from their royal residences into temporary housing. He bears no affection for his own family and is relieved to be away from them — the displacement freed him from a family situation he found oppressive.
He notes that "the honest and the kind among the former royals had grown scarce" — a bitter observation suggesting the displacement has revealed or intensified character flaws within the former nobility.
Relationships
-
Tayra Wylk-Warpine — Fin's girlfriend, with whom he shares temporary housing after displacement. He loves and worries for her deeply — during the Government District civil war his primary concern was her safety, and her being held hostage is what made him comply with Leti's demands. In their post-displacement life, Tayra is unaware of his secret Royal Direct Network communications. He appreciates that she genuinely tries to make their living arrangement work for both of them, which makes his deception more painful.
-
Myvan Arfyb-Warpine — A correspondent in Fin's secret network. Fin considers Myvan despicable but "perfect" for his purposes, suggesting he's building a network of useful rather than honorable former nobles. Myvan responds to Fin's messages unusually quickly.
-
Fin's father — Deeply resented. Fin would accept a hypothetical invitation back to the family estate, shake his father's hand, and then punch him repeatedly. He is glad to be away from his family.
Story Arc
Chapter 40 — Hunted by House Shtor
Fin hides in the cockpit of a grounded personal ship in the Government District, having sent a distress signal that Zet intercepts. He has been attempting to call Tayra repeatedly for nearly half an hour with no answer. Houses Erick and Shtor share an ancient feud — so old that historic records don't mention how it began — and House Shtor used the civil war to settle old scores. Zet locates nearly a dozen armed House Shtor drones searching for Fin, hacks their cameras to simulate finding his location, watches them open fire with hundreds of bullets confirming shoot-on-sight orders, then destroys them and begins searching for Tayra. Fin's primary stated concern throughout is Tayra's safety.
Chapter 43 — Hostage at Telon
After being rescued by Zet, Fin and Tayra arrive at Telon sanctuary with eight other refugees. They are assigned to a shared apartment with Bron (Tayra's companion from the building collapse), Angela (the young girl from that collapse), and unknowingly share the facility with Leti — Kaiser's infiltrator posing as a formerly homeless man.
When Fin returns to the apartment after thanking Zet for the rescue, Leti reveals himself by holding Tayra, Bron, and Angela hostage with a knife. Leti forces Fin to approach Zet's android bodies while carrying a concealed hacking device.
Fin approaches the android in the community garden, thanks Zet for the rescue, and carefully asks whether Zet remembers the rescue operation and whether there was any surveillance gap — an attempt to warn Zet without alerting Leti. Zet confirms a 2-minute window when cargo drones were unsupervised. Fin's anxious, fidgety behavior when leaving signals that something is wrong.
Fin successfully deploys the device by getting close to the android bodies. It vibrates three times, indicating successful transmission. He returns it to Leti, who completes the operation. All four hostages are then tied to chairs while Leti waits for his plan to unfold.
TWPW Chapter 3 — Secret Network
Months after Zet's declaration, Fin lives in temporary housing with Tayra, ostensibly helping her search for permanent housing near her family's (House Wylk's) estate. In reality, he is secretly corresponding with other former royals via the Royal Direct Network — including Myvan Arfyb-Warpine, whom he considers despicable but useful. He worries that both sides would deem him a traitor if discovered.
When Tayra arrives home at 4:30, Fin shuts down his computer and feigns casual browsing. He tells her his housing search has been "boringly" unproductive. They share a moment of dark humor when Tayra asks what he'd do if his own family invited him back.
Later, Fin discovers a response from Myvan had arrived while he forgot to disconnect his phone from the Royal Direct Network — a security breach that could expose him if Tayra or anyone working with the new government saw the notification.
