The Science Guild

Type Research organisation

The Science Guild was a research and military organisation that opposed Rovin Warpine's seizure of power on ideological grounds — specifically his disregard for the sanctity of undisturbed ecosystems. With only 95,187 soldiers operational by the time all other opposition had been destroyed, they chose technological superiority over direct military confrontation.

Ideology and Opposition

Unlike The Motherworlders, The Dredgers, and The Core, the Science Guild's opposition to Rovin was explicitly ideological: they objected to his indifference toward ecosystems. Their relatively small military force made direct conflict untenable.

Technological Resistance

The Guild targeted Rovin's stronghold with several untested capital weapons. One of these weapons severely malfunctioned, accidentally destroying the Guild's own Titan-class Command Ship in orbit. Rovin seized on this incident, preaching it as an Omen to his followers — divine confirmation of the righteousness of his rule.

The loss of their Command Ship effectively ended the Science Guild's capacity for meaningful resistance, completing Rovin's unopposed seizure of the Lukyr system.
