Lukyr Qyvor

Lukyr Qyvor is the first planet in the Lukyr system to establish a formal planetary government, and the world where the system itself received its name. It predates Lukyr Prime as a seat of civilization but was ultimately demoted to vassal status under Rovin Warpine's empire and has never reclaimed its earlier prominence.

History

Settlement and First Government (c. 6,700–6,800)

When it became clear that Lukyr Arix — the initial post-Void settlement — was being destroyed by unregulated industrial extraction, those who wanted to establish proper order emigrated to Qyvor. They founded the first planetary government in the Lukyr system there.

This event also gave the system its name: the designation Lukyr was formally adopted at the time of Qyvor's settlement, making Qyvor the technical first home of the Lukyr civilization. In the decades that followed, Lukyr Alaphor and Lukyr Orbine were also colonized under Qyvor's political umbrella.

Conquest by Rovin Warpine (6,911)

Rovin Warpine, a military commander who had spent over a decade building a loyal force, defeated the Qyvorian government in a military victory in 6,911 and declared himself ruler of the Lukyr Empire. Qyvor ceased to be an independent government and became the first planet absorbed into the empire.

Demotion to Vassal World (7,010)

When the Shade on Lukyr Perind was completed in 7,010, Rovin declared Perind — renamed Prime — the new Imperial capital. Qyvor was formally demoted to vassal status. Despite having been the system's original seat of government, it has remained politically subordinate ever since.

Character and Independence (7354)

Despite being conquered in 6,911 and demoted to vassal status in 7,010, Qyvor has retained remarkable independence and identity. By 7354, it is:

Begrudging acceptance: Most Qyvorians accept the Empire's rule but with visible reluctance. The Empire's rule is something they tolerate rather than embrace — technically ruled by it, but never having lost their own identity.

Peaceful compared to Prime: Life on Qyvor in 7354 is described as "peaceful" — in stark contrast to the oppressive atmosphere on Lukyr Prime under Rovin's direct authority. The distance from the Imperial capital appears to grant Qyvor breathing room.

Infrastructure (7354)

SFL-TA Chapters 2 and 4 provide direct depictions of Qyvor in year 7354:

Floating Cities and Space Elevators

Qyvor's cities are built vertically around space elevators, piling up against the elevator structures "like anthills." Roads run dozens of kilometers above the ground. Some elevator cities can be seen from others in the distance; the tallest ones climb nearly twice as high as smaller ones.

Starpointed is one of the smaller elevator cities — home to Tomas Lithe his entire life, built around one of Qyvor's many space elevators.

Space Elevator Travel

Travel to orbit via elevator is expensive enough that Tomas has never ridden one despite living next to it his whole life. The elevator cabins are massive — resembling building complexes rather than cabins. Each boarding cycle stops at a dozen stations before launching, taking as long as 20 minutes. The ascent to orbit then takes roughly 40 minutes under strong acceleration.

Stations have priority entrances that allow authorized personnel (like Royal Brigade Knights) to bypass all queues with a code device.

Private Research Labs

ZRDC is a private lab on Qyvor that employed Tomas as a physicist to study The Glowing Element. When Tomas's findings proved nationally significant, ZRDC's management immediately contacted the Royal Brigade — suggesting private labs on Qyvor operate under an obligation to report discoveries of imperial interest.

Current Status (8,044)

Qyvor's current population and political arrangements are not detailed in available sources for the 8044 period. It is described in passing as the "first inhabited planet in the Lukyr system" and as having been "passed over as capital in favor of Lukyr Prime."
