This is MagNews and we are broadcasting live from the studio to all of Lukyr to cover emerging details on what we can now confirm to be a deliberate attack on the Royal Records Agency. It is 2:45pm, my name is Victor Brimo, welcome.

A little under an hour ago, at 1:46pm standard time, a major explosion shook the Government District to its core. A briefing, since published by the Royal Brigade, confirms the details.
According to this official recounting of events, security forces and the Royal Brigade became aware of a potential intruder into the Records Agency at 1:40pm. Though relevant security measures were immediately implemented to the highest standard, the nature of the intruder meant that it went undiscovered.

And what is that nature, dear viewer? The Brigade confirms it. Exact details are still emerging, but we now know that the digital threat Commander Aaron Carnick first spoke of in his public service announcement on the 18th of September was in fact an artificial intelligence - one believed to be advanced enough that traditional containment measures have failed. The Royal Brigade asks that we warn viewers of the inherent dangers of such an entity being out there, though they are expected to release another more detailed announcement about it in the coming hours. This announcement, known to be drafted as we speak, will likely detail additional security measures that the Empire is taking to prevent such a tragedy from occuring again.

The artificial intelligence, or “AI” for short, is said to have remote-controlled a bug-shaped robot that it used to infiltrate the building undetected. Why exactly the records agency’s security network failed to detect it is currently the subject of an ongoing investigation. The explosion, which is said to have originated from just outside the server rooms on the 78th floor, is confirmed to have taken at least 455 lives, with many more people still missing and even more injured.
