Imperial General Assembly, September 23rd 8044, 13:27, Transcript
The following is a transcript of every word said within the Royal Conference Room during this particular assembly. The transcript was created by machine and verified in its integrity by 11 eye-witnesses.
In attendance were Emperor Qyvin Warpine, all four of the honored Royal Commanders and 43 Ministers of the Crown.
1st Cmd. Aaron Carnick: Settle down, please. The Emperor has called this assembly to discuss a most troubling recent development. The AI threat that we’ve all worked together to fight has released a public manifesto, slandering the Empire and seeking to gain citizen support. I have no doubt that you all will have read this document already, but since the network is deactivated for security reasons, I will have a copy of it sent to your personal devices, for your perusal, via the local network.
Lord Carnick takes a break in speaking as the ministers each verify that they have, indeed, received the document in question.
1st Cmd. Aaron Carnick: At this time, it is our wish to hear input from each and every minister. We wish to know how your ministries, and by extension the agencies that are subordinate to it, will take steps to fight this dangerous force.
Lord Carnick sits down.
1st Cmd. Aaron Carnick: I am opening the floor for speaking requests.
Minister of Finance Rodric Loguar presses the request button. His request is granted.
MoF Rodric Loguar: Lord Carnick, with all due respect, do you really think any individual agencies or even ministries can do much to fight this threat? Surely we are all in agreement that this has gotten far beyond individual care and must be a matter of Imperial Security. You and the Royal Brigade are expected to make moves at this time.
Lord Carnick nods.
1st Cmd. Aaron Carnick: Minister Loguar, I understand your concerns. Please do understand that the Royal Brigade is working at full force to combat and contain the threat. That being the case, we have assessed the situation such that we believe widespread individual measures to be necessary. For as long as the threat is out there, and until we can contain it, any unprotected agency poses a major risk - so I ask that each and every one of you does prepare a detailed countermeasure plan. What the Royal Brigade has been working on will become relevant at a later point, but I promise you, you will not be disappointed.
Minister of Education Stephany Rolfer presses the request button. Her request is granted.
MoE Stephany Rolfer: Does this not illustrate the ineptitude of the Brigade under your leadership? You’ve been trying to solve this problem for who knows how long, and have got nothing to show for it.
1st Cmd. Aaron Carnick: Minister Rolfer, I appreciate your honesty. As I said to Minister Loguar, we’ve been hard at work, and the results of that work, I believe, will speak for themselves when they are ready.
Minister of Justice Yonatan Poltic presses the request button. His request is granted.
MoJ Yonatan Poltic: What does the Crown have to say about the damning evidence of widespread corruption that the manifesto contains? What will be done about that?
1st Cmd. Aaron Carnick: You will appreciate that we’ve had little time to investigate this thoroughly. We called in this assembly right away to discuss the matter - an expert investigation will be conducted. That said, I believe there to be little actual value to this evidence. This AI entity was not involved in any actual political matters, so all the evidence it may have was either pulled from public records, in which case we surely knew about it already, or fabricated entirely.
Minister of Kyrantology Roran Drigo presses the request button. His request is denied.
1st Cmd. Aaron Carnick: At this time I believe it is important that we stay on topic. Your concerns are justified, and we will hear them in time, but right now, the most important matter remains that of prevention of further abuse and catastrophe. As I’ve laid out at the start of this assembly, I need each and every one of you to develop a plan for how to safeguard your ministries and agencies against AI interference. There will be general increased security measures, enforced by the Crown, of course, but I am asking for specifics - each and every agency does something differently, so the plans need to look different.
Minister of Ecology Zari Quen presses the request button. Their request is granted.
MoEc Zari Quen: What of the death of Minister Ulira? Are we expected to just-
MoEc Zari Quen’s speaking permission is withdrawn by Lord Carnick.
1st Cmd. Aaron Carnick: I apologise, but I must close the floor to further contributions.
Lord Carnick pauses and looks up data on his tablet, looking shaken.
1st Cmd. Aaron Carnick: It is clear to me that today’s events have understandably created an unproductive atmosphere. I will dismiss the assembly at this point. That being said, the matter at hand is no less urgent. The Commanders and I are expecting plans to be submitted to our offices by end of day. Ministers, it’s been an honor.
Lord Carnick looks around the room, then nods towards the Ministers. Emperor Qyvin exits, and the Commanders follow.
The assembly is concluded.
