Frederick Korough

Palace and government persona of Eldon Wynter. Under this name he held an office as a lowborn Minister of Heritage in the Wing of Lords of the Royal Palace, managing Aaron Carnick and the Project Chimera team through the appearance of a collegial relationship. He cultivated a public reputation as a principled reformer working to unseat Qyvin Warpine — so effectively that when Zet publicly accused him of bombing the Records Agency, political observers dismissed it as slander against the one man actively fighting the Emperor. Carnick believed the relationship was collegial and addressed him as "Frederick" — an informality Eldon Wynter found irritating but endured.

Physical Appearance

As Korough, Eldon Wynter wears different facial accessories and a less extravagant suit than his typical Solyr-decorated Kaiser style — sufficiently distinct to prevent even politically sophisticated observers from connecting the two identities. The disguise is maintained through holomask technology; after the takeover, camera footage at Visitor's Envy captured a single-frame malfunction showing his features rearranging when he fell — the first visual confirmation that Kaiser was still using facial disguise technology.

Personality

Korough's public face is that of a principled, reform-minded government official — rational, anti-authoritarian, critical of Qyvin's illegitimacy. The persona was a deliberate construction that allowed Eldon Wynter to present legitimate-seeming authority, access official institutions, and manipulate associates while concealing his actual position in the shadow government.

Background

The Korough identity was active at minimum through the endgame of the IWUKE timeline and into the post-takeover period documented in TWPW. Under this persona Eldon Wynter:

• Held an official office in the Wing of Lords and attended throne room events
• Managed Aaron Carnick and Project Chimera, rationing intelligence to control outcomes
• Co-authored a legal appeal with Carnick seeking to unseat Qyvin on the basis of paradoxical statements about Toven's legitimacy, which was anonymously forwarded to Zet
• Presented Project Total Renewal work orders to Lucas Taldo under the Emperor's direct authorization
• Attended Evitr services as a registered member of Guardian Eternal; later observed at Visitor's Envy after apparently switching congregations

Whether the Korough identity corresponds to existing citizen records or is entirely fabricated is an open question.

Story Arc

The Korough persona was Kaiser's primary operational face within the palace during the IWUKE endgame. After the takeover, he continued using the identity with a holomask at public venues. Ribo Mire and Anne Cyra attempted to apprehend him at Visitor's Envy but he escaped to a private spaceport.

Following the near-arrest, Eldon Wynter orchestrated a mass media campaign claiming to be Kaiser, declaring his innocence, and publicly using his real name "Eldon Wynter" for the first time. Zet confirmed the name in an emergency Board assembly, effectively burning the Korough identity. Zet now possesses Wynter's citizen record and official residence information — acquired legitimately to aid the investigation.
