Role / occupation Royal

Tayra Wylk-Warpine is a royal from House Wylk and girlfriend of Fin Erick-Warpine. During the Government District civil war, she demonstrated combat capability and courage while defending trapped civilians from House Shtor assassination drones. After Zet's declaration, she and Fin live in temporary housing while searching for permanent residence near her family's estate.

Physical Appearance

Not yet established beyond her combat-ready presence — she wields a powerful energy pistol during the Government District crisis.

Personality

Tayra is combat capable and level-headed under pressure, maintaining a defensive position alone against multiple drones while protecting three civilians. She is protective of those around her regardless of personal risk.

In the post-displacement period, she is warm and friendly — greeting Fin with "Hey-ho!" when arriving home and demonstrating genuine care for making their living arrangement work for both of them. She has a playful sense of humor, asking Fin absurd hypotheticals and laughing when she sees through his mock-serious responses. She values proximity to her family but maintains some independence rather than simply moving back to the House Wylk estate when they ask.

Background

Tayra's public profile is remarkably private — she appears in public records by name (unavoidable for royals) but has minimal other presence. The only substantial public mention is a three-year-old article discussing the ethics of romantic relationships within the Warpine Dynasty, using Fin and Tayra as an example. Such relationships are considered acceptable given appropriate genealogical care after 1,200 years of dynasty expansion.

After Zet's declaration, Tayra and Fin were displaced from their royal residences into temporary housing. Her family (House Wylk) maintains an estate and has urged her to simply move back, but she prefers independent housing nearby. She is searching for accommodation near the border of the region where the House Wylk estate is located.

Story Arc

Chapter 40 — Defense and Escape

Tayra is found in a train station building under siege by House Shtor drones — targeted either due to House Wylk's relationship with House Shtor or by association with Fin. She is armed with a powerful energy pistol, defending three civilians: two men (one severely injured, later identified as Kriss Ryante) and a young girl (~10 years old, later identified as Angela).

The building has three main entrances, two blocked by ceiling cave-ins. Tayra holds the single usable entrance alone while others tend to the injured man. The ceiling is actively failing from ongoing combat. Zet assesses she is "valiantly defending" and "not doing half bad."

Zet discovers Tayra after nearly 15 minutes of searching (while Fin repeatedly tries calling her with no answer), deploys surveillance moths to announce presence and intent to help, uses moths to guide her to better cover, and dispatches combat and cargo drones for extraction.

Before extraction succeeds, House Shtor drones positioned above the building drop the ceiling. Zet orders everyone to rush to a section where ceiling had already collapsed. Kriss forces his partner to take Angela and escape, refusing to be moved himself. The younger man, Angela, and Tayra escape just as massive ceiling chunks crash down. Kriss dies in the collapse.

Chapter 43 — Hostage at Telon

After rescue, Tayra and Fin arrive at Telon sanctuary and are assigned to a shared apartment with Bron and Angela. When Fin returns after thanking Zet for the rescue, Leti — Kaiser's infiltrator — reveals himself and holds Tayra, Bron, and Angela hostage with a knife, using the threat to coerce Fin into deploying a hacking device against Zet's android bodies.

Tayra and the three other hostages are tied to chairs while Leti waits for his plan to play out. Leti reveals he was being paid and expected "the guy" (presumably Kaiser) to blow up Telon once the operation is complete.

TWPW Chapter 3 — Temporary Housing

In the post-declaration period, Tayra and Fin live together in temporary housing while searching for a permanent home. Tayra arrives home at 4:30 PM to find Fin apparently browsing news. She asks about the housing search; Fin reports no progress. She suggests expanding the search toward the border (nearer the House Wylk estate), though she seems reluctant about moving too far from her family.

Her family, meanwhile, wants her to simply move back to the estate — she is "actually kind of upset" they won't just accept her desire for independent housing. She understands their reasoning but maintains her preference. Tayra promises Fin that when they find housing, he won't have to interact with the broader former noble community — only with her family specifically.

In a playful moment, Tayra asks what Fin would do if his own family invited him back, anticipating the absurdity. She sees through his mock-serious buildup and breaks into laughter when he delivers his punchline about punching his father.
